Welcome to my blog. My name is Travis Kelln and I am the Vice-Principal and a grade 6 teacher at Fairview Middle School in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Fairview is a grade 6-8 school with approximately 150 students. We are a dual track school providing French Immersion and English instructional streams to students. My teaching assignment is grade 6 science and mathematics (english stream). It is currently my third year at Fairview and 10th year as an educator. I am currently taking my Masters in Education in the area of Curriculum and Instruction . . . yes, I am also a student!
I have many interests outside of my job. I love most sports but I am primarily a ‘hockey in the winter’ and ‘golf in the summer guy’! I also enjoy weight training and jogging. I love spending time with my wife and two daughters the most . . . just being a husband and a dad is (by far) my favorite thing!!
Through this blog I hope to give you a sense of what it is like to be an educator in middle years. As many of you know, this is an age of many ‘ups and downs’. It is also an age where parents can get a bit lost in the educational process. I hope to use this blog as an educational tool to keep parents ‘in the loop’. Please feel free to comment or contact me through this blog at any time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Hey Mr.Kelln, cool site. I didn’t know you golfed! You don’t seem like a golfing guy. But I guess you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. So what is this Masters in Education thingy? Anyway’s it doesn’t sound like my kind of thing.
See ya later!
